Myofunctional Therapy

Office

Four goals of myofunctional therapy are nasal breathing all day and night, proper tongue posture, proper lip seal and proper swallowing. A full therapy program typically consists of 12-15 total session with each session being in person or by zoom for about 30-45 mins.

I am Cori Littlejohns, your dedicated Orofacial Myofunctional Therapist (OMFT) at Family Holistic Dentistry.

Thank you for visiting our site. As an OMFT, I specialize in creating tailored therapeutic programs that include passive and active oral and facial muscle exercises. My approach focuses on neuromuscular re-education of the orofacial complex, aiming to normalize and correct chewing and swallowing patterns and tongue, jaw, and lip resting postures.

Myofunctional therapy is best described as a type of therapy for the head, neck, and jaw, as well as the muscles surrounding and supporting the tongue. Orofacial myofunctional disorders can negatively affect the muscles of the face and mouth. This can create maladaptive habits and patterns that, if left untreated, can have severe consequences.
